Bipolar Disorder In Children

BIPOLAR DISORDER
IN
CHILDREN

Thoughts From A Jackson Area Psychologist

My posting today is a deviation from my own writing.  I recently read an article on Bipolar Disorder and the mis-diagnosis of this serious condition in children.  It reflects my own ideas, based on my experiences through the years.  For those of you who have a child who has received this diagnosis, and may still be struggling with helping your child, I encourage you to read this.  It is my opinion that this diagnosis for children and adults should be made only after a complete psychological or psychiatric evaluation--not on a one shot visit to someone who makes the determination and prescribes in a few minutes of meeting the individual.
